FAQ - Mobile phone number directory service

Your MobilephoneNo.com questions answered:

How do I get my own number listed in the directory?
Simply go to the "Include me" section from the main menu bar and add your own details (as much or as little as you please, subject to adding your full name, mobile number and your country as a minimum useful entry). We suggest you offer a password and a reminder of what that password is in case you want to edit the entry later, such as following a change of address or mobile number. Lastly, if you can prefix your number with the country code (e.g. +44 for the UK) then while not essential, it helps to do so.

What about privacy?
Privacy is paramount. We don't sell personal information to third parties. Your email is only used to contact you at your own request if you lose your password. We only make public (through the directory) as much or as little information as you want to provide. All we ask is that you provide your full name and mobile telephone number. Clearly, this may lead to confusion where individuals with the same names are concerned, so it's probably a good idea to add a little more information, such as the name of the Town or City in which you live, or your occupation (or even a nickname!), if you are happy to do so. remember this is a world-wide directory, so don't assume everyone knows which country you're in - tell us! Listed individuals can include or remove additional details at any time via our edit facility. We will use your email address only to 1) send you a password reminder if you request it and 2) to check with you that your details are still current - and this check will be no more frequently that once a year.

How do I edit my entry?
If you want to edit your entry you will need to go to the edit section on the main menu bar and then type in your surname and password. This is why we suggest you offer us a password when you first register, since without it we cannot be sure who is entitled to edit particular entries. When you think of a password, you should also offer a hint or reminder of what the password is. For example, you might want to use "spock" as your password, in which case you might think that "illogical Captain!" would serve as a suitable reminder phrase. This is important if you forget your password. In this case we can e-mail you your password reminder phrase. This should help you remember your password, while being meaningless to anyone else who may see it.

How do I renew my entry?
Simply go to the edit screen (you will need to enter your surname and password), change any details you wish to update, and hit the Update button. If your details don't need revising, just hit the Update button. This will rewrite the date stamp associated with your listing and you remain in the directory for another year.

How do I delete my entry?
Simply log in to the system (see 'How do I edit my entry?', above) and edit your mobile number to read '0', that is, zero. In some cases you may need to input more than one zero before the system will accept this change. Once this is done a) your original number is immediately no longer available and b) at regular intervals, the system will completely remove records whose mobile number is zero, so your remaining details will be deleted at that time. If you cannot access your record because you didn't set up a password or email address, or because someone else set up your listing without telling you, then you will have to contact us directly. We are always happy to help and will usually be able to remove you quite quickly. Please remember that we prioritise courtesy and we do not tolerate rude or aggressive behaviour.

Why do you want my e-mail address?
We will send you a reminder when your entry is about to expire so that you can re-new your entry in our listings. If you ask us to, we will also send you a reminder of your password (see next item) so that you can edit or update your own entry. Clearly we can only do this if we have your e-mail address. We do not pass on e-mail addresses to any third parties and you will not receive any unsolicited e-mail from us.

I forgot my password - how do I edit my listing?
Follow this link, tell us your surname and your e-mail (the one you used when registering!) and we will send you a reminder of your password by e-mail straight away.

For how long will my listing continue to appear in the directory?
We normally list numbers for one year from the date on which they were first registered. We do this in order to ensure that the directory drops number which are old and no longer in use. If you gave us your e-mail address we will notify you two weeks in advance of the expiry date of your listing. This will give you an opportunity to renew your details for a further twelve months.
